What We Do
What does RAW do?

At RAW we pride ourselves on successfully uniting volunteers with conservation and development projects within the communities of Kenya.

We enable people seeking a meaningful and constructive holiday to provide assistance and support to local initiatives in East Africa. We provide volunteer holidays, training and support for local conservation and community based projects in Tanzania and Kenya.

We are a non political, non-religious organization.

Our volunteer groups

We specialize in small to medium size groups and individual bespoke trips at our field bases in Pemba Island, Shimoni, Mombasa and Tsavo.

Volunteers can combine Marine, Land and Community programs – with additional add-on safari holidays, PADI scuba diving training and mountaineering experiences to Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro. Our volunteer holidays run from two weeks to three months assisting in vital conservation and community development projects.

Our experience

Our decades long experience in marine and safari destinations and our work with our local communities means we can develop custom-designed trips enabling volunteers to focus on one specific project or rotate amongst the various projects on offer. Just let us know where your passions and skills lie and we will work with you to design the right expedition for you.

With over 30 years experience of tourism, safaris and conservation initiatives in East Africa, RAW is perfectly positioned to provide the expertise, local knowledge, staffing and logistics required to ensure this is the volunteering holiday of a lifetime.

Our long term commitment to marine research and exploration stretches from Mombasa to Tanzania, and our team has had a long and successful track record of investing in marine and land conservation projects. These include Spinner Dolphin Migratory Patterns, Whale Shark Migrations Projects, Manta Ray Behavioral Studies, Studies in Seaweed Farming for Fishing Communities, Sustainable Fishing Program- Methods for Coastal Communities, Marine Park Surveys, Marine Archaeology- Pemba, Biodiversity Counts- South Coast of Kenya, Diver Training and Education Programs and Agricultural Alternative Livelihoods Programms.
